In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the minister's mandate from God -- it a serious charge, a very sober-minded and solemn duty -- to PREACH AND EXHORT with all authority (from God thru His Word).
This sermon contains the mandate for the minister:
4. LET NO ONE DISREGARD YOU!
"The MAN in the Pulpit: Preaching Class Session 1"
Pastor Geoff preaches Job 13:11 -- do you not fear the awesome majesty of God? And he calls men and women on the streets of St Louis, MO to turn from sin and to fear God and trust Christ alone for salvation from divine wrath. Come to this Savior and live!
"The Majestic Presence of God in the Assembly of His Worshipers"
Pastor Geoff preaches 2 Chronicles 5 when Solomon brings the Ark of the Covenant into the newly built Temple & this sermon brings out 2 admonitions from the text for us so that we can gaze upon God's glory & remember our supreme God who meets with us:
1. Prioritize the Worship of God
2. Revere the Presence of God
"The Majestic Glory and Divine Perfection of Scripture"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff exposits Isaiah 23 and shows how the prophecy concerning Tyre is a grave warning regarding the love and pursuit of and security of money.
This chapter shows 2 devastating consequences of trusting money:
1. shameful humiliation because of the loss (1-7)
2. severe wrath from the Lord of hosts (8-14)
>>And then future hope: restoration from the LORD (in the millennial kingdom) (v.15-18)
Pastor Geoff preaches in the open square on the doctrine of the Love of God that is revealed in Jesus Christ. It's ultimately found and seen most clearly at the cross when God crushed His own Son so that sinners may be saved -- all out of His free & infinite & sovereign love!
Pastor Geoff preaches part 2 on this long parable of the LOST SON. In this message, the focus specifically centers on the joyful reception of the Father as the penitent, wayward, Prodigal son returns home.
Then, the sermon focuses on the older son, the older brother, who was the self-righteous hypocrite who felt that he always obeyed the Father and deserved to be rewarded for his conduct.
Listen to this gospel message and the pleas to repent and trust in Christ at the end of the sermon.
"The Lost Son, Part 1: The Breathtaking Love of God!"
Pastor Geoff preaches on the well-known story of the "Prodigal Son" and shows that the hero of the story is not the younger, Prodigal son, nor is it the older brother. Rather, the hero is God Himself -- pictured as the loving and gracious and joyful father in this story who receives back penitent sinners.
This message covers the downward spiral of the Prodigal into sin and the full repentance that he demonstrated.
Listen to this message.
"The Lost Coin: The Joy fo God Over Repentant Sinners"
Pastor Geoff continues the verse-by-verse exposition thru the Gospel of Luke and teaches on the parable of the Lost Coin. In this story, as with the other parables in Luke 15, the theme centers on the happy joy of God over one sinner who repents!
This message looks at the story that Jesus told of the lost coin and the message concludes with an 'excurses' (a mini bible-study) on joy in heaven.
"The Loss of All Things for the Greater Gain of Christ!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on how to PREPARE for the Lord's Supper.
Part 1 - the MEANING of the Lord's Supper (last week)
Part 2 - the PREPARATION for the Lord's Supper
Part 3 - the PARTICIPANTS/SUBJECTS of the Lord's Supper
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff provides a handful of ways that we can prepare ourselves for the week leading up to our taking the Lord's Supper so as to ensure that we are focusing on Christ and on His body and blood.
"The Lord's Supper, Part 1: The Meaning of Communion"
In this message, Pastor Geoff begins a 3-part series on "The Lord's Supper" at CFBC.
Part 1 - The MEANING of the Lord's Supper
Part 2 - The PREPARATION for the Lord's Supper
Part 3 - The PARTICIPANTS of the Lord's Supper
Listen to this message (part 1) as the Scriptures speak of the meaning of 'eating and drinking' and feasting and communing with Christ as the believer remembers what Christ did at Calvary to atone for sins.
Pastor Geoff provides a devotional on Jeremiah 23:19 speaking of the coming storm of God's wrath that will overtake and crush all of His enemies. This must be a powerful motivation for all believers to lovingly and yet urgingly proclaim the gospel to the lost so as to see them come to Christ!
Psalm 93 begins the "Enthronement/Kingship Psalms" (Psalms 93-100) which lie at the very center of the Psalter. The theme of the entire book of Psalms is summed up in this motif of God being the Sovereign King.
Psalm 93 points out three marks of God's kingship.
Listen to this message & be comforted as you think on the absolute, unrivaled, supreme, and exclusive sovereignty of God.
Pastor Geoff preaches 2 John 9 and focuses on the second half of the verse that true believers who abide in the teaching (doctrine/theology/gospel) of Christ have both the Father and the Son!
What unspeakable privileges believers have -- we have (possess!) the Father and the Son!
