Pastor Geoff continues preaching through the Gospel of Luke and teaches on the parable that Jesus tells because people supposed that He was going to start the kingdom immediately.
But Jesus tells a parable to show that He, as the King, will depart for a while and then He will return and call all of His slaves to account for how faithful they have been.
This message is a call for all of God's slaves to serve Him faithfully. Let God deal with the results. Our duty is to remain faithful.
It's also a warning to those who are lazy, idle, unbelieving, and self-congratulating. The warning is sober because when the Master returns He will slay all His enemies and cast them to judgment forever.
Turn to Christ today! Serve Him with faithfulness!
Pastor Geoff preaches on how to prepare for and respond after the preaching of the Word. What if we asked good questions afterwards to help fellow believers apply the truth heard.
Consider these questions:
*What did God show you about Himself and His character?
*In what way did God minister His Word to you to help you in a current situation you're in?
*How did you see the reality of sin & the grace of Christ through the preached WORD?
*How did the Spirit of God use His Word to encourage you, convict you, challenge or enlighten you?
"How Do You Spend Your Time? Do You Waste God-Given Moments?"
Pastor Geoff preaches Psalm 86 and shows from David's prayer how we must respond to hard and painful times in our lives. David prayed in his pain. He prayed with perspective. And in his praying, he presented his petitions.
We can learn about God and His character and how David's thinking in hard times was saturated with Scripture and divine truth.
Pastor Geoff talks about the preaching of Jesus Christ. How did he preach?
Note 5 characteristics of Jesus' preaching from Luke 8:1 --
the ongoing work -- he began going...
the itinerant work - going around from one city & village to another
the public work - going from one city & village to another...
the preaching work - proclaiming & preaching
the gospel-work -= the kingdom of God
Geoff preaches on why Paul gives thanks for the Thessalonian Church. He expresses his manner of giving thanks (praying always for the believers) and then the first reason he gives thanks (because of their work of faith, their labor of love, and their steadfastness of hope). Hear & apply this very important text of Scripture!
"Hosanna! The Day of Messianic Presentation! See the King!"
Pastor Geoff begins the Passion Week (cf. Acts 1.3) with this important event of Christ presenting Himself as the Messianic King. He travels with the crowds of people and then, on Sunday morning, enters Jerusalem publically on a donkey as the masses are shouting "Hosanna" (Psalm 118).
Listen to the background of this event and the meaning of this messianic presentation!
Pastor Geoff preaches Titus 2:11-14 at a funeral for a friend's friend. How do you preach the gospel & proclaim hope and the good news to those you've never met before? Here Pastor Geoff talks about the past, the present, and the future and the hope found in Jesus Christ alone from Titus 2.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches Isaiah 32 in an expository way so that we draw out the meaning of the text (authorial intent) and that becomes the meaning/point of the sermon.
This sermon provides HOPE in the future Kingdom when the LORD will reign and rule in righteousness.
We see this in 4 ways:
1. Righteous Ruler
2. Renewed Knowledge
3. Real Urgency
4. Righteous Kingdom
