Pastor Geoff shows how homosexuality rejects the glory of Christ and it goes against the radiant purity of Christ's righteousness. This message exposes the perverted nature of homosexuality, it presents the glorious character of Jesus Christ, and it calls homosexuals and those who struggle with such deviant immorality to turn to this glorious Savior and be changed!
Pastor Geoff preaches through the Psalms & here begins the "Psalms of Ascent" (Psalms 120-134). This 'hymnal within the hymnal' was the devotional meditative songbook for the ancient Jewish pilgrims as they traveled from their homes to Zion to worship God in the Temple.
This first of the collection (Psalm 120) recounts the psalmist as he leaves his home and as he is the object of lying and deception. He warns the enemies of divine judgment of fire that will come upon them for their lies (Rev 21:8).
And he longs for, yes he is passionately anticipating, arriving in Jerusalem to worship Yahweh with the people of God!
Let us consider these truths as New Testament believers as we also are journeying on to Zion -- our heavenly Zion!
Pastor Geoff preaches the gospel on the streets of St Louis, MO and calls men and women passing by (in the afternoon rush-hour) to understand the one, true & living God. God is holy. God is perfectly holy. God demands holiness to enter heaven.
The only solution is to run to Christ and trust in Him alone for salvation, righteousness & hope!
"Hide Me Under Your Wings, O God! A Prayer for Protection"
In this psalm, Pastor Geoff shows how David prayed when enemies rose up against him. They were violent, hostile, eager to pounce on him, and eager to tear him down from his high position of leadership.
Yet David honestly prayed to God. He was full of integrity and argued his case to God. He told God to test him in his heart, in his words, and in his deeds.
The climax of the psalm is the last verse where he remembers that he will see God's face in future glory! What hope this gives! What a towering perspective!
Listen to & apply this psalm!
"Hezekiah's Sickness & Recovery: The King Is Just A Man"
As pastor Geoff preaches through this chapter, we understand it in a few headings:
1. God's declaration - you're gonna die (1)
2. Hezekiah's desperation - I've been whole (2-8)
3. Hezekiah's reflection - I'm a mortal man (9-20)
4. God's intervention - You'll recover (21-22)
Pastor Geoff continues the Family Bible Hour Series on "Hermeneutics — how to rightly interpret the Bible."
This topic today covers Step #1 on observing the text. When interpreting the Word of God, we must observe it by giving a careful eye to the words themselves, the structure (and context) of a text, the atmosphere of the text, and the literary forms of a particular text (narrative, discourse, poetry, prophecy).
In this Family Bible Hour message, Pastor Geoff teaches on the specifics of interpreting poetry and figures of speech. They really go hand in hand because so many figures of speech are contained in the poetic sections of Scripture.
Pastor Geoff gives guidelines and some definitions of some of the figures of speech so that we can rightly interpret God's Word.
"Hermeneutics Part 11: Prophecy & New Testament's Use of the Old Testament"
Pastor Geoff teaches the next Hermeneutics class. The topics today are:
1. interpreting prophecy (Isa, Jer, Ezek, Dan, the 'Twelve', and Revelation)
2. interpreting the New Testament's Use of the Old Testament
"Here's What the Bible Will Produce in You When It Grips Your Soul!"
Pastor Geoff preaches on 1 Thess 5:14 and shows the utter sufficiency of God's Word to help every Spirit-indwelt believer to counsel one another. Indeed, every Christian is competent to counsel.
Listen to this sermon and apply the principles so you can be equipped to minister the truth of God's Word to other believers so as to produce Godly change and replace the bad, sinful patterns with good, righteous habits!
"Here's How You Can Rejoice in Tribulation—Let Your Thirsting Soul Drink Satisfyingly from God"
Geoff preaches Amos 6 that reveals some sins that God hates. God promises that He will judge Israel for her sins. Geoff preaches the Word and calls people to repent of sin, flee to Christ, and find refuge from God's wrath only in the salvation accomplished in Jesus Christ.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff walks through the 'dark night of the soul' as Heman expresses a prayer to God in Psalm 88. What can we learn about depression? About anguish? How can we endure? How can we persevere? Even when there's no light in sight?
Keep trusting! Keep relying on God!
