take Paul’s prayers in Eph 1, 3, Phil 1, Col 1, etc. and pray them for your church
use the model prayer from our Lord in Matt 6 to guide you:
Glory of God (our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name…)
Kingdom of God (your kingdom come)
Will of God (your will be done)
needs of this life (give us this day our daily bread)
confession of sin (forgive us our trespasses
pursuit of holiness (lead us not into temptation, but deliver us…)
In this message, Pastor Geoff teaches part 2 on the Road to Emmaus and builds on how the men say: "Were not our hearts *burning* within us as he explained the Scriptures to us on the road!"
How do YOU get a burning heart for God and for Christ and for His gospel?
1. Study the Scriptures
2. Savor Jesus Christ
3. Speak His works
Pastor Geoff tells why God gives spiritual gifts to every believer and also what some of the results are when we use our spiritual gifts.
How to find your spiritual gift? Here is some counsel:
1. study your Bible
2. pray about it
3. examine your motives
4. consider your abilities in the context of the church
a list & write out the following in 4 categories:
1) CAN DO (ways you're able to serve)
2) HAVE DONE (ways God has already used you)
3) DOING BETTER (areas in which you're improving)
4) WANT TO DO (ministries you'd like to serve in)
5. ask others
6. take opportunities to serve
Pastor Geoff continues the series on biblical church leadership & shows the biblical prescription for disciplining elders who continue in persistent sin with a view towards restoration & church purity.
Pastor Geoff provides biblical counsel on "how to die well." We need to be people of God who die well in the Lord. And to die well, we must finish well. And to finish well, we must persevere and triumph in Christ.
This message provides biblical truths and historical anecdotes from Puritans who died well in the LORD.
Geoff preaches Psalm 109 and gives two ways to respond to the harshest of verbal accusations and criticism. The way that David presents his predicament to God and then how David prioritizes his perspective on God and His character serves as a fitting lesson for us when we are verbally assaulted. Listen and apply this sermon.
In this psalm, Geoff preaches and provides a helpful way to biblically deal with distress in your life.
David felt forsaken, abandoned by God, persecuted from enemies, depressed, lonely, near the brink of death, and filled with fear. Yet he prayed to God & found a rock-solid foundation upon which he could stand strong — namely, in God's unchanging love.
Pastor Geoff preaches on Habakkuk 2:4 - the just shall live by faith and calls all men and women on the streets of St Louis, Missouri to come to Christ by faith alone & in so doing, God reckons Christ's righteousness to them and treats them as justified sinners.
The doctrine of justification is the heart & central organ of the gospel.
Sinners are justified by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff begins the final major section of 1 Thess -- responsibilities in church life. In 5:12-13, Paul tells the Thessalonian church how they must relate to, respect, and honor their leadership/shepherds.
Listen to this sermon & apply the specific applications so that you can obediently honor & respect your leadership!
"How Should I Engage With & Interact With My Homosexual Friends?"
In this message, Pastor Geoff teaches from the Bible as to how we as Bible-believing Christians must engage with and interact with our homosexual friends, loved ones, neighbors, co-workers.
The Word of God makes clear that we must interact with our unbelieving friends by speaking the Truth with Love.
This message gives clarity so that we can stand courageously on the Word of God and engage with the lost world and shine as lights in the midst of it.
