Pastor Geoff preaches Ps 55 and shows how to cope with the most severe heartache in life — enemies rising up against you and the betrayal of an intimate, close friend. What do you do? How do you cope? How does anxiety turn to assurance? How does worry become worship?
Psalm 55 provides the answer (along with 1 Peter 5:6-7).
This sermon was preached at a Senior Living home in St Louis, Missouri to a group of older folks who gather for the weekly Bible study. We are working through the book of Hebrews to show that "Jesus is better" -- and our study is one chapter per study to give the big picture of Christ's unrivaled & beautiful supremacy!
Pastor Geoff provides an explanation of how the New Testament uses the Old Testament. In particular, Pastor Geoff shows how Paul uses Psalm 68 in Ephesians 4. What has baffled many in wondering 'how' Paul used the psalm to further his argument in Ephesians 4, Pastor Geoff endeavors to explain.
Paul used Psalm 68 in context and, in fact, the way in which Paul uses the psalm to enhance his argument in Ephesians 4 could not have been more appropriate and compelling.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff continues his exposition of 1 Corinthians 1-2 at the Senior Living Home in St Louis, Missouri. Here, he exhorts the elderly to learn from the Apostle Paul and his 3 non-negotiables for Christian living and Christian ministry:
1. The plan of God
2. The passion for Christ
3. The power of the Spirit
In this podcast, Pastor Geoff Kirkland shows that pastors and academic professors who condone the LGBT+ movement are deceived.
We must stand courageously and speak biblically as we stand upon the sufficient, clear, and authoritative Word of God (=the Bible):
Men in the pulpits must teach TRUTH to God’s people.
Professors in the instructions must teach SCRIPTURE to Believers.
Christians in the pews must understand the NATURE of sin.
Christians in the pews must believe the POWER of regeneration.
Christians in the pews must warn with urgency of homosexuality (SSA)
Christians in the pews must speak with courage in these times.
Christians in the pews must expect the hatred of the world.
"Pastoral Thoughts on Regular Evangelism and Soul-Winning"
Pastor Geoff preaches on the text when Jesus is in the upper room having the Passover meal with the Twelve. This message brings us into the Jewishness of the feast and brings out the highlighted features of the night:
1. The theological moment of the Passover.
2. The true meaning of the Passover.
3. The tragic betrayer at the Passover.
In this sermon Pastor Geoff continues his plea to passionately pursue sexual purity. In this series, he provides 8 ways that you can pursue purity. Tonight he covers part 2:
1. Flee sexual immorality
2. Control your body
3. Reject lustful passions
4. Know God intimately
5. Honor your brothers
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the background of sexual immorality in the ancient Roman World (in Thessalonica) and then he provides, from the text, the first of eight pointsso that we can all fight against lust & delight supremely in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Geoff preaches on the foundational truth of participating in corporate worship. This message emphasizes the reality that every believer plays an active part in worshiping God corporately.
Rather than the mindset of "I'm going to church to get/take something," we should try to cultivate the mindset of: "I'm going to gather with the saints in order to serve them today!"
CONCLUSION = Babylon is a literal city that will dominate the world in the future Tribulation empire.
It will be characterized as a harlot that prostitutes her moral values for material luxury.
The entire city is viewed as a mystery in that her future position, relationship to the AntiChrist, and ultimate destruction BY the antiChrist had not been known before John’s vision (it was new/unveiled)
Babylon will have influence/control over the world — over the entire globe.
This is NOT a mystical system.
It is a real city and system that is intoxicated with power, luxury, immorality & evil.
THE BABYLON in these chapters — though it is religious — it will exist geographically, politically, commercially, religiously and wickedly — and GOD WILL UTTERLY ANNIHILATE IT.
WHY BABYLON IS LITREAL & WILL BE REBUILT & IMPORTANT IN FUTURE PROPHECY:
Some say that Babylon is NOT literal. That OT prophecy never teaches that it’ll be rebuilt.
The Bible predicts the destruction of Babylon will be final & complete (Jer 50-51; Isa 13). It’ll be so annihilated that it’ll be like Sodom/Gomorrah (Jer 51.24-26)
Scripture predicts the destruction will be utterly sudden/quick (Jer 51.8//Rev 18)
The OT predicts this will come “in the Day of the LORD” (Isa 13.6-11; 13.1; 14.1-3; Jeremiah 50:1-6)
At the time of her destruction there will be cosmic/heavenly disturbances in sun and moon (Isa 13:10/Matt 24/Rev 6-16)
Universal peace will result from the overflow of Babylon (Isa 14.7-8; Revelation 19)
A literal interp of Zechariah 5.5-11 demands a restored & rebuilt Babylon —> a woman called “wickedness” is seen sitting in an Ephah measure covered with a round piece of lead. An Ephah to a JEW was a perfect symbol of commerce and was the largest dry measure of the Jews. The Ephah is then taken away to “build a house/Temple in the land of Shinar/babylon. This vision anticipates a final *concentration of wickedness and commercialism in the great center in the land of Shinar/Babylon which would span over the whole earth (exactly as Revelation 17-18 says)
The historical context/situation of Babylon have clearly shown that the prophecies have *NOT* been fulfilled and must await a final and complete fulfillment.
