"The Blessings & Woes of Christ's Sermon on the Mount/Plain"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff provides the background and introduction to the Sermon on the Mount (or in Luke, "the Sermon on the Plain"). This sermon occurs in Matthew 5-7 and in Luke 6:20-49.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff begins the series by teaching on the "Blessings and Woes" of the sermon. Christ draws the line in the sand and puts all men into one of two categories -- either those who are His kingdom citizens or those who are not; those who are like the world or those who are not; those who are blessed by God or those who are cursed by God.
Listen tot his message & examine your heart and see whether you truly are characterized Christ's own kingdom citizens.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches Nehemiah 8:1-8 and gives many observations of the text as the exiles have returned from Babylon to their homeland of Israel. They've rebuilt the walls and now they've all gathered to hear the LAW OF GOD read from Ezra. They're all gathered together.
What can we learn? What can we glean? Why do we as a church encourage families to worship together? Why do we do what we do? Why is our philosophy such that we love to welcome and invite in young kids into corporate worship? What's the goal, purpose, motivation and prayer?
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the birth narrative of John the Baptist. The faithfulness bleeds through this entire text. God fulfills His promises and His Word exactly as He said he would.
Pastor Geoff preaches Psalm 126 on the people of Israel and their shout of joy when God restored them back to the Promised Land after their 70 year captivity in Babylon. This is a hymn of joyful praise as God has done great things for them.
Yet, in their hardships, they earnestly seek God to restore them, to revive them, to reinvigorate them, to renew them.
Listen to this psalm and let us find hope to endure hard times in the present and future as we look to the past and remember God's wondrous faithfulness!
"The Beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff concludes the exposition through Ephesians 2
by talking about the CHURCH -- in three word-pictures / metaphors.
1. You are citizens of God's kingdom
2. You are members of God's household
3. You are stones in God's Temple
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff walks through the Gethsemane narrative in Mark 14. Then he preaches on the "cup of God's wrath" and what it means that Jesus drank the cup of the Father's wrath in our place.
Listen to & apply this sermon on Christ's redemption for His elect.
This sermon covered the judgment of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Revelation1, the Apostle John sees the glorified Christ in all of His sovereign glory. And this remarkable vision of Christ reveals His power, His wrath, His destruction of his enemies, and His purity.
Make certain you are saved from the wrathful Christ because you have believed, surrendered, & are following Him!
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the humanity of Jesus Christ. Luke 4 provides a remarkable account where Christ meets Satan for combat. Christ overcomes because of His reliance on the Spirit, His commitment to the Word, and His desire to obey the Father.
Listen to & learn how you can overcome temptation as well.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the narrative where Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. The focus of the sermon is to highlight the deity of Christ. That means that Jesus Christ is fully, and has always been fully, God.
Geoff shows how the deity of Jesus Christ is absolutely essential for our salvation & how it relates to you personally.
Listen to & apply this sermon.
"The Beast of the Sea (AntiChrist) and the Beast of the Earth (False Prophet)"
Revelation 13 reveals two individuals -- "beasts" -- who will arise during the future time of tribulation. The first is a beast that comes up out of the sea and this speaks of the "Anti-Christ", the man of lawlessness (2 Thess 2). Then the other beast is the "false prophet" -- the one who makes all the world to worship the first beast (and the Dragon).
This message looks at these two characters and the role that they will play in the future time of divine wrath in the Tribulation period.
"The Baptism of the Lord Jesus Christ: The Messianic King Is Here!"
This profound and significant text of Jesus' baptism signifies the divine credentials and the divine approval for Christ's ministry.
The baptism of Christ was one of the last acts in His private life before he launched the public ministry. In this text, Jesus is baptized by John in the Jordan, the Spirit of God comes upon Christ and empowers Him for ministry, and the Father thunders out of heaven that Jesus is in fact the Beloved Son in whom God is well-pleased.
Old Testament allusions and texts abound in this brief text. Listen to this sermon & strive to emulate Christ as a man of prayer and a man fully dependent on the Spirit of God.
