Pastor Geoff preaches on 1 Thess 5:14 and shows the utter sufficiency of God's Word to help every Spirit-indwelt believer to counsel one another. Indeed, every Christian is competent to counsel.
Listen to this sermon and apply the principles so you can be equipped to minister the truth of God's Word to other believers so as to produce Godly change and replace the bad, sinful patterns with good, righteous habits!
Pastor Geoff teaches the next Hermeneutics class. The topics today are:
1. interpreting prophecy (Isa, Jer, Ezek, Dan, the 'Twelve', and Revelation)
2. interpreting the New Testament's Use of the Old Testament
"Hermeneutics Part 9: Interpreting Poetry & Figures of Speech"
In this Family Bible Hour message, Pastor Geoff teaches on the specifics of interpreting poetry and figures of speech. They really go hand in hand because so many figures of speech are contained in the poetic sections of Scripture.
Pastor Geoff gives guidelines and some definitions of some of the figures of speech so that we can rightly interpret God's Word.
Pastor Geoff continues the Family Bible Hour Series on "Hermeneutics — how to rightly interpret the Bible."
This topic today covers Step #1 on observing the text. When interpreting the Word of God, we must observe it by giving a careful eye to the words themselves, the structure (and context) of a text, the atmosphere of the text, and the literary forms of a particular text (narrative, discourse, poetry, prophecy).
In this psalm, Pastor Geoff shows how David prayed when enemies rose up against him. They were violent, hostile, eager to pounce on him, and eager to tear him down from his high position of leadership.
Yet David honestly prayed to God. He was full of integrity and argued his case to God. He told God to test him in his heart, in his words, and in his deeds.
The climax of the psalm is the last verse where he remembers that he will see God's face in future glory! What hope this gives! What a towering perspective!
Pastor Geoff preaches the gospel on the streets of St Louis, MO and calls men and women passing by (in the afternoon rush-hour) to understand the one, true & living God. God is holy. God is perfectly holy. God demands holiness to enter heaven.
The only solution is to run to Christ and trust in Him alone for salvation, righteousness & hope!
"Homesick in a Hostile World! Trusting God While Journeying to Zion!"
Pastor Geoff preaches through the Psalms & here begins the "Psalms of Ascent" (Psalms 120-134). This 'hymnal within the hymnal' was the devotional meditative songbook for the ancient Jewish pilgrims as they traveled from their homes to Zion to worship God in the Temple.
This first of the collection (Psalm 120) recounts the psalmist as he leaves his home and as he is the object of lying and deception. He warns the enemies of divine judgment of fire that will come upon them for their lies (Rev 21:8).
And he longs for, yes he is passionately anticipating, arriving in Jerusalem to worship Yahweh with the people of God!
Let us consider these truths as New Testament believers as we also are journeying on to Zion -- our heavenly Zion!
Pastor Geoff shows how homosexuality rejects the glory of Christ and it goes against the radiant purity of Christ's righteousness. This message exposes the perverted nature of homosexuality, it presents the glorious character of Jesus Christ, and it calls homosexuals and those who struggle with such deviant immorality to turn to this glorious Savior and be changed!
Pastor Geoff provides biblical truths from the New Testament that all show homosexual behavior as deviant from God's righteous Law and how it will incur God's just wrath unless sinners flee from sin & turn to Christ!
Now is the acceptable time! Flee to Christ & be delivered!
Pastor Geoff speaks of pertinent verses from the Old Testament that specifically address the topic of homosexuality.
Listen to these Scriptures which speak of the wickedness of this deviation from God's original design. Those caught in this lifestyle must turn from sin, seek the Lord, and follow after Him to be saved!

We must open our mouths and courageously and lovingly plead with sinners (whether heterosexual or homosexual) to flee from their sinful ways and turn to Jesus Christ alone in repentance & faith to be saved from the coming wrath of God.

In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches Isaiah 32 in an expository way so that we draw out the meaning of the text (authorial intent) and that becomes the meaning/point of the sermon.
This sermon provides HOPE in the future Kingdom when the LORD will reign and rule in righteousness.
We see this in 4 ways:
1. Righteous Ruler
2. Renewed Knowledge
3. Real Urgency
4. Righteous Kingdom
Pastor Geoff preaches Titus 2:11-14 at a funeral for a friend's friend. How do you preach the gospel & proclaim hope and the good news to those you've never met before? Here Pastor Geoff talks about the past, the present, and the future and the hope found in Jesus Christ alone from Titus 2.
Pastor Geoff begins the Passion Week (cf. Acts 1.3) with this important event of Christ presenting Himself as the Messianic King. He travels with the crowds of people and then, on Sunday morning, enters Jerusalem publically on a donkey as the masses are shouting "Hosanna" (Psalm 118).
Listen to the background of this event and the meaning of this messianic presentation!
