"Finding Hope in the Dark Despair [Depression] of Your Soul!"
Pastor Geoff preaches this 8-verse stanza (kaph in Hebrew) that deals with the dark despair of the soul. The psalmist battles many enemies who persecute him, they pursue his life, they set traps for him, his body wastes away, and he is emotionally in turmoil.
Nevertheless, God shows two towering ways to cope with the dark despair of the soul (=commonly called 'depression' today):
1. Commit yourself to fervent prayer
2. Resolve wholly to cling to Scripture
Listen to this teaching that incorporates biblical counseling, the sufficiency of Scripture, and the hope that is found in Christ and in His sovereign love.
"Finding the Will of God? Biblical Clarity Needed!"
Pastor Geoff preaches on "Finding the Will of God for your Life." This is a common question that pastors often receive: "What's God's will?" Which decision should I make? Whom should I marry?
Should we know God's will for the future? How do we find it? Should we?
Deuteronomy 29:29 provides great clarity for it teaches us about TWO wills of God -- the (1) decretive (sovereign) will; and the (2) preceptive (revealed) will laid forth in Scripture.
We are not to know the decretive/sovereign will because it's "hidden" and "Secret". But we are to know and follow and obey the revealed will of God in the Scriptures.
Then pastor Geoff provides 6 questions to help guide you through the decision making process of life.
"Five 'How-Tos' So You Can Reflect Christ in Your Walk"
Pastor Geoff exhorts the young people at CCC to live lives of sexual purity. God commands sexual purity. Pastor Geoff gives practical reasons for pursuing sexual purity, how to pursue sexual purity, and how to change when caught and addicted to a sexual sin. Listen to this exposition of 1 Corinthians 6:18-20.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff exposits through Joshua 20 — the cities of refuge that God designated for those who killed others unintentionally — and he shows how we are all guilty before God and in need of an ultimate refuge to save from God's wrath.
Listen to pastor Geoff give a passionate evangelistic call from Revelation 6 as he talks about the future judgment of God which will come upon all the unrepentant. Be saved from the wrath of the one who sits on the throne & from the wrath of the Lamb! Flee to Jesus Christ for salvation!
This sermon expounds Mark 1:16-20 when Jesus walks by the Sea of Galilee and calls two sets of brothers -- Simon & Andrew and then James & John, the sons of Zebedee.
MAIN POINT - Jesus demonstrates his authority by summoning 5 men to be DISCIPLES and SOUL-WINNERS.
1. You are CALLED to follow Christ!
2. You are COMMISSIONED to fish for souls!
This message looks at many parallels between casting the net for fish & fishing for souls! What is the believer's duty and call? What is our ambition? How can you evangelize? What can you do to fish for souls? How can we make it our ambition to "win more souls" to Jesus Christ?
Pastor Geoff preaches Ephesians 1:7-8 in this exposition through the Book and calls the church family to gaze upon the wonder and glory of REDEMPTION. Pastor Geoff provides 3 declarations that every child of God can make his own from the text:
1. I have REDEMPTION
2. I have FORGIVENESS
3. I've been given GRACE
If God has elected, predestined, loved, and adopted you (vv.3-6), then you CAN glory in these declarations and make them your own as you look to Christ and His all-sufficient redeeming work through His blood!
"Forgiveness — Don't Return Evil for Evil but Pursue their Good!"
Pastor Geoff street preaches & continues the exposition through John 8 and shows how Jesus offers a full and lavish forgiveness even to the worst of sinners — an adulteress caught in the very act.
Repent! Believe! And follow Christ!
"Forming a Theology of Suffering: Going from Me-Centered Pain to God-Centered Hope!"
Pastor Geoff preaches the Word of God at Providence Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Edwardsville, IL and shows from the Word of God what the foundation of a healthy church must be -- the expository preaching of the Word of God.
Pastor Geoff lectures on "Friendship Evangelism" and why this is a faulty way that modern 'evangelicalism' has talked about evangelism. Modern-day friendship evangelism is neither true friendship nor faithful evangelism.
This is a critique of the movement biblically and theologically in this 1-hour long lecture.
"From Blindness to Sight: A Desperate Condition Meets Sovereign Grace!"
Pastor Geoff preaches on the healing of Blind Bartimaeus as Jesus approaches Jericho before the final week (Passion week) of His life. This is a remarkable healing account and in this sermon, pastor Geoff provides 4 remarkable truths so that we can follow the story as Luke unfolds it for us.
We must ask ourselves if we see our salvation-story in the healing of the blind man. The desperate condition meets sovereign grace. And then the instantaneous healing of Christ results in discipleship, obedience, and rejoicing.
Has this happened to you? If not, come to Christ by faith alone today!
"From the Pit of Sin to Justified by Faith! — The Story of Rahab the Prostitute!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the woman who was bleeding for 12-years with the hemmorage affliction. She tried all human forms of healing but none could help. In this sermon, Pastor Geoff talks about Christ's healing power but more than that, the texts shows how Jesus alone can provide true soul healing from the disease of sin!
