Pastor Geoff exposits Proverbs 3:1-12 and proclaims these "fatherly imperatives" as we see God's "Truth for Youth" in this profound section of wisdom literature.
The 6 fatherly imperatives for us are:
1. Treasure God's Word
2. Emulate your God
3. Trust your God
4. Live with humility
5. Give with generosity
6. Embrace God's discipline
"Wisdom Shouts To You: 'Repent Or You'll Be Violently Destroyed'!"
In this sermon, God personifies wisdom as a street preacher who calls out to the multitudes of people passing by (the naive, the fools, the scoffers) and pleads with great urgency & severity:
1. Wisdom HERALDS, so Listen (20-22)
2. Wisdom PLEADS, so Repent (23)
3. Wisdom WARNS, so Fear (24-33)
"With Great Privilege Comes Great Responsibility! Do You Honor God?"
Pastor Geoff preaches on Amos 3 and reminds us that with great privilege comes great responsibility. As God's chosen people, Israel was not exempt from God's punishment because of their sin. And the situation is the same with us today. He talked about living wholeheartedly for God, walking in a way that proclaims the gospel in everything we do, and striving to fulfill our responsibility that God gave. To whom much is given, much is required.
Isaiah 31 is a prophet "woe" oracle on the people of Judah because of their willful determination to NOT trust Yahweh but rather to seek Egypt's help.
This chapter can be summarized in 4 words:
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff works through Luke 10 and shows how Christ sent his followers out to saturate the land with the gospel and he provides some helpful principles that we can apply from this narrative passage.
In this Christmas Eve message, Pastor Geoff proclaims this one verse and shows four glorious -- and essential -- realities about Jesus.
1. Jesus' humanity
2. Jesus' identity
3. Jesus' deity
4. Jesus' exclusivity
Listen to & examine your own heart to see if you have come to this King! Have you come to "Kiss the Son?"
Pastor Geoff teaches in the senior living home in St Louis, Missouri and preaches the meaning of Christmas from the Matthew 2 account of the Magi -- the wise men -- traveling to Jerusalem to worship Jesus!
Listen to this exposition & the call to worship Christ the LORD!
Pastor Geoff preaches on this psalm where David (see parallel in 1 Chron 16) recounts Old Testament history from the Abrahamic Covenant, to the Joseph story, to the time in Egypt, to the Exodus, to the Conquest of Canaan. All this is for the purpose of obedience ('so that'); the people of God are to delight in who God is and devote themselves to obedience of Him. Listen & apply this practical sermon from Ps 105.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff exposits Psalm 48 — a Zion psalm — and shows how the OT worshiper would travel to Jerusalem (=Mt Zion) to worship God in the once place that He so designated.
But for us as the NT Church, we don't go to a place or a mountain, we must worship "in spirit & in truth". There also awaits a day when we will enter the full & glorious heavenly Zion to worship the unrestricted presence of God forevermore.
Pastor Geoff proclaims the glories of Jesus Christ in the open air in St Louis, MO. The gospel compels us to love sinners and thus to urge them to fly from the wrath to come and to find refuge and safety in the righteousness of Christ! Repent of sin! Trust in Christ alone!
A friend of mine posted this outline on social media and I've taken it and elaborated on it for this audio podcast:
