In this verse-by-verse exposition of 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, Pastor Geoff provides five ways that you can live so as to be ready for the coming of the LORD. He shows that we as believers are not appointed for the day of God's wrath but rather for the obtaining of salvation through Jesus Christ!
Pastor Geoff preaches on Christ's healing of the 10 lepers and the return of the one to worship and give thanks to Christ. This is a message not only on gratitude but also on the sovereign glory of Christ & His grace toward the outcast sinners (like the lepers, even a Samaritan leper!).
Geoff preaches on the sovereignty, judgment, and glory of Jesus Christ and calls all people to respond rightly to Him. John fell down as a dead man and to the one who responds with this kind of humility and awe, Christ says: "Do Not Fear!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches Joshua 5 and calls us to be consecrated to God before we can do great things for God as we learn from and apply the historical account of Israel's consecration to God before the going to battle in Canaan.
In this sermon, Geoff provides three ways that we can be consecrated to God in our Christian lives.
Pastor Geoff preaches in the chapel at Brookes Bible Institute in St Louis, Missouri. In this sermon, he pleads with the students and faculty to be constant in prayer and never lose heart!
He works through the parable and then exhorts the listeners to pray constantly, frequently, expectantly, boldly, and joyfully. He then provides 5 reasons why believers should pray and never lose heart.
Listen to this sermon.
"Be Filled With the Spirit & Observe What Spirit-Filled Living Is Like!"
Pastor Geoff preaches on this historical section of Paul's love and concern for the Thessalonian Church and how he sends Timothy to strengthen & encourage them in the midst of their hardships. All believers are called to suffer. Listen to and apply this practical sermon.
"Be Thankful That the Father Gave You to the Son!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches at the Thanksgiving worship celebration and reminds the believers to be thankful because:
1) God gave you to His own Son
2) the Son gave you eternal life
Rejoice in the eternal purposes of sovereign election!
Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through Luke and teaches Luke 12:41-48 as our Lord teaches the crowds that all must be ready for the coming of the Son of Man.
Those who know the Master's will and do not act accordingly and prepare themselves will receive many lashes (in hell). Those who do not know his will but still do deeds worthy of condemnation will receive but few (in hell).
With greater light and exposure to the gospel, the condemnation of sinners will be greater. Don't fall into the lowest depths of hell from the pew of your bible-teaching church! With much light comes great responsibility!
This sermon covers the next section in Ephesians in our verse by verse, expository study -- on being wise, being understanding, and knowing God's will. We must make the best use of our time -- we must redeem the time (Eph 5:15-17):
WHY you must redeem the time.
HOW you must redeem the time.
HINDRANCES to you redeeming the time.
ETERNITY's call for you to redeem the time.
Now is the acceptable time! Behold TODAY is the day of salvation!
Pastor Geoff preaches Acts 9 on the conversion of Saul and how God called Ananias to go to Saul and to tell him God's message that: God had appointed him to 'bear God's Name' before kings, before Gentiles, and before the sons of Israel.
That was Paul's mission -- to BEAR GOD'S NAME before all men. And, of course, Saul would suffer greatly for it.
This sermon in the open air tells WHY we open air preach every week at the same spot. We bear God's Name before all men -- doctors, the homeless, nurses, students, visitors, etc. We want all to know of this Christ who died for sinners & rose for their justification! Repent & believe in the gospel today!
"Because the LORD Reigns, Strive to Rightly Respond & Exalt His Name!"
Pastor Geoff preaches on the sovereign reign of God and how true believers should stand in awe of Him, rejoice in Him, and live holy lives before Him. He concluded with an application illustrated by the way Hebrews 1 quotes Psalm 97. Listen and learn from Psalm 97.
