Psalm 134 is the last of the 15 'songs of ascents' (Psalms 120-134) which was the pilgrim's mini-hymnal that they would sing as they traveled from their homes to Zion for the 3 pilgrimage festivals (Passover, Booths, Pentecost).
In Psalm 134, we are told to 'bless the LORD.' This psalm teaches us about true worship.
In this sermon we learn about:
the PREEMINENCE of worship
the PRAISE of worship
the PEOPLE of worship
the PURITY of worship
the POSTURE of worship
the PLACE of worship
the PERSON of worship
the PATH of worship
May God awaken His people today as to the unspeakable privilege and the glorious duty of worshiping Him in spirit and truth.
Pastor Geoff exposits Isaiah 37:1-13 in this sermon when Sennacherib sends the Rabshakeh to Jerusalem to threaten and blaspheme Hezekiah and Yahweh
Isa 36 is the SITUATION
Isa 37 is the REACTION
In this section, we see 3 responses we must have for our good and for God's great glory when enemies attack and difficult times invade:
1. SEEK YOUR GOD!
2. STAND ON GOD'S PROMISES!
3. STRENGTHEN YOUR HEART!
Pastor Geoff preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ from Psalm 3 at the Senior Living home in St Louis, Missouri to many older folks. This message calls the hearers to:
1. Pray to God
2. Trust in God
3. Hope in God
For the Lord Jesus Christ is Savior because salvation belongs to the LORD!
In this sermon, Geoff Kirkland preaches Psalm 40 & shows how David trusted in God and how he prayed to God in times of hardship.
Hebrews 10 quotes Psalm 40 and applies the verses directly to Jesus. Hear how Jesus fulfilled the Law perfectly & how His perfect obedience secured his perfect, once for all sacrifice in the place of sinners.
In this closing message, Pastor Geoff preaches on the final, concluding part of the Sermon on the Mount -- when Christ presents two builders who build on very different foundations.
This sermon is all about how you 'listen to' and 'hear' the Word of God. Lots of people hear Christ's Words but few people 'do according to what they have heard.'
How do you hear Christ's Words? Do you come to Him, hear His Word, and act accordingly?
This final, concluding illustration in Christ's Sermon on the Mount needs to be heard by the professing church today. Scores of people hear Christ's Words, but there are masses that do not do what He says.
Let him who has an ear, listen to what Christ says.

"Two Ways to Live: The Person Walking According to the Spirit" Part 2

"Understand Adoption: God Takes Enemies & Makes Them Sons"
In this psalm, Pastor Geoff shows how God is opposed to the proud & yet He gives grace to the humble. The prideful God will violently destroy. But those who humble themselves before God at the foot of the cross will find ever-flowing mercy and all-satisfying love fully poured out upon them.
Listen to this sermon & apply it to your life.
"Understand that Man Is Rebellious but God Is Gracious & Faithful!"
Geoff preaches on Psalm 106 and gives the history of Israel from the perspective of Israel's fickleness and God's faithfulness. God is faithful even when His people are unfaithful. What an amazing God we serve! Listen and apply this very practical and helpful psalm on remembering who God is!
"Understand the Sin of Self-Serving Anger—How to Kill It!"
Pastor Geoff provides 6 declarative statements about UNITY among the people of God from Psalm 133.
This message exposes how essential church unity is among the people of God. This message contains many examples of attitudes and actions that DESTROY church unity and also those attitudes and actions that PROMOTE church unity.
Then the message concludes by showing how we at CFBC can have church unity.
Pastor Geoff continues the verse-by-verse exposition through Philippians and here begins the section in Philippians 2:1-4 -- the center-point, the hub, the discourse peak, the Mt Everest of the book. This brief paragraph is the thematic center of the entire epistle.
Verse 1 lays the foundation of what God has *already done* in every true believer -- so that verses 2-4 can build on this foundation with exhorting the believers to live in unity.
But verse 1 is simply stating to the believers what they *already now currently enjoy* because of God's gracious & sovereign & selfless workings.
Pastor Geoff continues the verse-by-verse exposition through the Gospel of Luke. Luke 12:1-13:9 is one unit -- it's a traveling narrative as Jesus speaks to thousands of people as He journeys in Judea.
In this text, Luke 13:1-9, Jesus calls all those who hear Him to repent for if they do not they will perish!
This message speaks of the DEMAND for repentance (unless you repent you'll perish) and the DESCRIPTION of genuine repentance (fruitbearing & the parable of the barren fig tree).
Listen to this exposition & ask yourself: "have I genuinely repented?" Turn from your wicked ways and live!
