In this chapter in the Book of Revelation, Pastor Geoff shows how the Lord gives John a sort of interlude -- a respite -- as John beholds a strong angel who comes down and delivers the message that "there will be delay no longer!" The time of God's patience is drawing to a close. The age of divine wrath will be 'complete' in the 7th Trumpet (which then unleashes the 7 bowl judgments).
John, in the Old Testament prophetic way, is told to eat the scroll -- the Word of God -- and it will be sweet in his mouth but bitter in his stomach.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on Luke 5 and describes the miracle of our Lord and then how this miracle is a pointer to the mission that He gives to Peter — and all disciples that follow (including us today!).
This sermon provides 4 essentials of a disciple. Every disciple, a learner and follower of Christ, must be characterized by these 4 essentials that we see in the text.
Furthermore, every Christian is a fisher of men and must actively and diligently busy himself in the work of the Lord — casting the net into the sea of humanity to catch 'fish'!
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff reminds the CFBC congregation of the mission of CFBC. This sermon examines closely Paul's mission in Colossians 1:28-29 -- we proclaim Christ! This happens through the admonishing and teaching of every man so that every man will be complete in Christ!
Listen to this mission of God (in Col 1:28-29) and then the mission of CFBC so that the ministry can stay focused and faithful to the ultimate aim of glorifying God & exalting Christ!
"The Monumental Moment of Selecting the 12 Apostles! God Uses Ordinary People for His Glory!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff continues the verse-by-verse exposition through the Gospel of Luke and speaks about how Christ prayed all night, how he chose the 12 Apostles, and how he possessed all power to heal disease and manifest His glory.
Be encouraged that God uses weak, ordinary people to serve Him so that He receives all the glory!
"The Most Important Moment of Your Week: Hearing the Sermon"
The Most Important Moment of Your Week: Hearing the Sermon. Luke 19:48 talks about everyone "hanging on to every word that Jesus preached." May we remember the importance of and the glory of hearing from God every week as the Word is faithfully preached!
"The Most Terrifying Day in the History of the World!"
Pastor Geoff exposits Romans 15:17-33 and looks at Paul's missionary heart (which reflects God's missionary heart) so that we can learn how every single Christian should be actively involved in global outreach & missions.
Either we are sacrificially GOING, sacrificially SENDING, or disobedient.
Pastor Geoff preaches on Jesus' sending out of the 70 to do the work of ministry. In this message, we learn a number of important elements so that we can be equipped as laborers for Christ in Christian ministry.
Pastor Geoff preaches the gospel on the streets of St Louis Missouri from Joshua 7, the account where Achan covets the gold, disobeys God's clear command, steals the gold, lies about it and then his sin finds him out and all Israel stones him (and his family) to death.
Be killing your sin! Take radical action against your sin!
"The Need, Foundations & Ingredients of Family Worship"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff concludes the study in Joshua and shows the definition & need for family worship. Then he provides the scriptural basis for it. Then he gives the ingredients of family worship (SING, READ, PRAY), and then some strong motivations for family worship.
Listen to this sermon & apply the Word of God to your life!
"The New Heavens & the New Earth: The Eternal Joy of the Redeemed!"
Pastor Geoff concludes a two-year expositional series through the Book of Revelation with the men at the homeless shelter in downtown St Louis, Missouri.
In talking about the NEW HEAVENS AND THE NEW EARTH, he mentions:
1. the COMING of the new heavens & the new earth
2. the CITIZENS of the new heavens & the new earth
3. the CITY of the new heavens & the new earth
4. the CENTERPOINT of the new heavens & the new earth
5. the CLIMATE/CULTURE of the new heavens & the new earth
"The Obedience of Christ to the Law: He Actively Obeyed the Father in Everything!"
Pastor Geoff preaches on the active obedience of Jesus Christ as he submitted to the Father & obeyed the Law in 2 specific ways in this text:
1. He obeyed in His circumcision
2. He obeyed in His consecration
In the piety of His parents, the Lord Jesus obeyed the Law and fulfilled all righteousness. He was born under the Law to redeem those under the Law.
And all of His righteousness is credited to the believer's account through faith at the moment of salvation.
This is part 2 of the series on the "Offices of Jesus Christ" -- this sermon covers Christ as your Priest. The sermon covers Jesus as your:
1. permanent priest
2. propitiating priest
3. praying priest
4. pure priest
5. perfect priest
6. preeminent priest
In this "Shepherd's Moment of Equipping," Pastor Geoff equips the CFBC flock on what the Bible says about homosexuality -- behavior and desires -- from the Old Testament. This teaching provides clear exposition, word studies, and hope found in Jesus Christ alone.
1. the beautiful PLAN OF GOD (=marriage)
2. the blasphemous PERVERSION AGAINST GOD (=homosexuality)
3. the beautiful PICTURE OF MARRIAGE (=a pointer to the union between Jesus Christ and His Bride, the Church)
Pastor Geoff preaches on the occasion of Jesus meeting the Samarian Woman at the well. In this moment, the Spirit of God allows and directs Jesus to know the woman's past. And here we see a glimpse into the omniscience of God, namely, the omniscience of Jesus Christ in this event.
"The Only Way to God: The Just Will Live By His Faith!"
Pastor Geoff preaches Habakkuk 2:4 on "The just will live by his faith" and then moves to Galatians 3:10-14 and shows how sinners can be justified before God by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
This message speaks about the meaning of faith, the sufficiency of Christ, the exclusivity of Christ, and the perfection of Christ's sacrifice.
This sermon was preached as a preparation for the Lord's Supper.
