In this sermon, Pastor Geoff teaches on the odd, hypothetical question that the Sadducees raise to Jesus in order to show that his doctrine of the resurrection is totally illogical & foolish.
Jesus responds with brilliant directness & clarity. He shows that there IS a future resurrection and He shows it with a theological argument and an exegetical (biblical) argument.
Learn from our Savior and see how masterful and clear He responds to those who posed this question to Him.
"An Introduction to Revelation, Part 2: The OT in Revelation"
Pastor Geoff provides part 2 of the introduction to the Book of Revelation.
This week covers the following topics:
- How John uses and alludes to the Old Testament often
- What is the meaning of a text (what the original A/author intended & what the original readers understood)
- What kind of genre of writing is this? Prophecy
- What are Old Testament texts that still remain unfulfilled that still await future, complete fulfillment?
"An Introduction to the Book of Revelation, Part 1"
This message is the introduction to the book of Revelation. Pastor Geoff covers the introductory issues that are essential to a proper understanding (=hermeneutic) of the Book of Revelation. This message covers topics such as the authorship, the date, the purpose, the themes, the theological doctrines covered, and the proper way to read and interpret the Book of Revelation.
God has intended Revelation to be an understandable book so that His people would have joy and live expectant lives ready for the any-moment return of Christ!
"An Invitation to You From Wisdom & From Folly: Which Do You Choose?"
This sermon concludes our expository preaching series through Proverbs 1-9. This final section, Proverbs 9, is a fitting summary and conclusion to the section.
1. Accept Wisdom's Invitation (1-6)
2. Avoid Folly's Invitation (13-18)
In the middle are the two responses to such invitations -- one of the scoffer and one of the man who Fears the LORD.
This message covers the eschatological era called the "Tribulation" which comprises a seven-year period of time when God will judge the world for her sin & prepare Israel to receive her Messiah.
This message is an overview of the Tribulation & a jet-tour through the Book of Revelation.
"An Urgent Call to Children to Turn to Christ & Follow Him!"
Pastor Geoff urges many passers-by in downtown Clayton, MO to repent of sin and flee to Christ while they still have time! This occurred during a lunch-hour as Pastor Geoff preached the gospel of Jesus Christ & pleaded with sinners to fly to Christ for refuge!
Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through Luke's Gospel and here he focuses on Anna (2:36-38) — a propetess who served God until the age of 84, even as a widow. She worshiped with passion, with hunger, with prayer, with fastings, with evangelism.
She was a woman after God's own heart. This character, Anna, models not only for all women but for every senior saint (the 'aged') how to live in undistracted worship & undiminished praise in the elderly years.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff concludes the expositional study through the book of Joshua and calls each person to answer what Joshua says: "choose for this day whom you will serve."
No one can serve two masters. We must believe in Christ and serve Him wholeheartedly.
One of the applications of this text is family worship. Geoff shows how there are three elements involved: singing, reading the Word, and praying.
He deals with the biblical foundations of family worship, compelling motivations to do family worship, practical outworkings of family worship, and he answers common excuses or objections to family worship.
"As Pilgrims, Remember Your Life Orientation in These 5 Ways"
This sermon covers the section of Jesus' interaction with his family and his foes (Jewish leaders) around 3 headings:
1. ACCUSATION - Jesus works only by Satan's power (20-22)
2. ILLUSTRATION - A kingdom divided cannot stand (23-27)
3. CONDEMNATION - Blaspheming the Spirit is unforgivable (28-30)
A. The SINS that can be forgiven!
B. The SIN that cannot be forgiven
