Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through the Gospel of Luke and teaches on the birth of Christ in Bethlehem. He shows the humility, the lowliness, & the salvation in Jesus Christ, the God-Man.
This sermon begins the exposition of the "Armor of God" Section in Ephesians 6.
From this text, we will see 4 all-important commands for every Christian -- every single soldier -- in battle!
1. be strong
2. be armed
3. be aware
4. be unmoved
Pastor Geoff preaches on the tragic apostasy of King Joash -- a man who had such potential and such a godly discipler (Jehoiada) -- yet who, in his own foolish pride, he turned from God and ended his life far away from God!
How do you NOT be like Joash? How do you end well?
1. FOLLOW YOUR GOD!
2. KILL YOUR PRIDE!
3. FINISH YOUR COURSE!
"Stern Warnings to False Teachers & Mockers of the Truth!"
Pastor Geoff preaches Luke 16:14-18 and shows how this is a paragraph characterized by confrontation. The Pharisees hear Jesus speak on wealth and godly giving (16:1-13) and they respond with mockery and scoffing.
In this paragraph, Jesus responds to them by providing them 3 stern warnings.
Listen to this message to ensure that you are walking in the truth & not walking like the hypocritical false-teachers.
Pastor Geoff provides a pastoral call and exhortation to believers to be serious about Christ and walking in holiness and to resist the temptation to play games with cultural, easy, lazy Christianity.
Let us grow, by God's grace, in our singular zeal for the honor & renown of Christ!
In this message, Pastor Geoff concludes the exposition through the little letter of 3 John. In John's closing remarks to Gaius (and the church by extension), we learn his genuine and affectionate love for the believers. What can we learn? How do we cultivate a church balancing TRUTH + LOVE?
1. strive for LOVE in the fellowship
2. strive for PEACE in the fellowship
3. strive for GREETINGS in the fellowship
This message covers the 'mem' stanza of Psalm 119 (verses 97-104) which centers on the theme of receiving God's supreme wisdom from the written Word of God. This wisdom that comes from God far surpasses anything that this world could ever possess.
This message provides 3 encouragements for God's people as we enter the school of Christ's wisdom & grow in grace.
"Substitution of Jesus: The Very Heart Of The Gospel"
Pastor Geoff preaches at a church in the ST Louis area and proclaims the very heart and core of the saving message of the Christian gospel -- the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ in the place of sinners.
He died FOR us; He died IN OUR STEAD.
"Summary of Isaiah: The Holy One of Israel Has Come to Save His People!"
Pastor Geoff preaches James 1:19-25 on how believers must respond to God's Word. In this message, specifically, Pastor Geoff provides 3 helps for us to take care how we listen to & apply every sermon.
BEFORE the sermon = PREPARE
DURING the sermon = PERSEVERE
AFTER the sermon = PRACTICE
May God's truth burn deeply into our souls that we would be hearers and doers of the Word!
Pastor Geoff preaches on the parable of the soils. The Lord Jesus, at a very important turning point in his public ministry, began teaching in parables to conceal spiritual truth from the masses who have rejected Him.
In this parable, Jesus tells of the seed of the Word which goes forth & there are four kinds of soils (=hearers). Three of them are unconverted while only one of them is truly saved.
This message journeys through the text and looks at it under four headings.
"Take Care How You Listen! Properly Understanding the Parable of the Soils, Part 2"
This sermon is part 2 on the study of the "Parable of the Soils."
Part 1 covered the overview of the parable, what parables are, why Jesus spoke in parables, and the first two soils -- the seed cast on the road and the seed cast on the rocky soil.
Part 2, in this message, covers the final two soils: the thorny soil and the good soil.
Take note that 3 of the 4 kinds of hearers of God's Word do not persevere and have no lasting fruit and are thus unconverted. Only 1 of the 4 soils that our Lord speaks about truly are converted.
Take care how you listen! He who has an ear, let him hear!
Examine yourself as you hear our Lord's teaching and make certain that you are in faith!
