This sermon continues the expository preaching series through the Gospel of Mark. Here, Pastor Geoff preaches Mark 12:35-37 -- Jesus is LORD.
Here we see 2 confessional declarations:
1. Jesus is MAN (35)
2. Jesus is LORD (36-37)
And in Psalm 110:1 - where Jesus quotes - we learn more about the kingship and reign of Messiah-Jesus!
"Jesus Is Messiah! The Glory of the Offices of the Messiah"
Pastor Geoff preaches the gospel to the folks at the Senior Living Home in Ellisville, Missouri. He focuses on the term: "Christ" and shows what the Anointed One refers to:
Jesus is anointed PROPHET
Jesus is anointed PRIEST
Jesus is anointed KING
Geoff preaches on the sovereignty of Jesus Christ as the only One who can take the scroll of God's judgment and break the seals. He is the Lion from the tribe of Judah who alone has purchased for God men with his own blood from every tribe, tongue, people & nation. Listen to this & believe in the gospel of Christ!
Pastor Geoff preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ on the streets of St Louis, MO. In this open-air sermon, he preaches John 3.30 when the Baptist says: "He must increase; but I must decrease!"
In this message, Pastor Geoff proclaims that Jesus must increase because...
1. He is God
2. He is Man
3. He is Gracious
4. He is Savior
5. He is Atonement
6. He is Willing
Come to Christ today & live!
"Jesus on Trial Before Herod: Unshakably Silent & Shamefully Mocked!"
Pastor Geoff preaches the portion of the Roman Trials when Christ Jesus stands before Herod Antipas. Herod questions Jesus and after Jesus remains silent, Herod turns to mocking, jeering, and contemptuous behavior toward Christ, the King.
This sermon provides 4 features to see in this narrative.
"Jesus On Trial Before the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate"
Pastor Geoff preaches Luke 11:14-26 which comprises an exorcism miracle and then a subsequent conflict that erupts because of Christ's powerful works.
It is an amazing narrative because the miracle itself (the exorcism) only occupies one verse! All of the remaining verses in the chapter deal with the virulent hostility and the surging animosity that soars because of Christ's powerful and undeniable works.
Listen to this message which focuses on Christ's almighty power over Satan, over the kingdom of darkness, and over sin! Our Savior, the Lord Jesus, has come and has defeated and destroyed the works of the devil!
Let us rejoice in Him! Let us cast our souls on Him! Let us rely fully and comfortably in Him!
In this message, Pastor Geoff walks through this narrative & provides four points in understanding the text. He also shows how the Pharisees of old 'fenced the Law' by adding many (many!) additional laws to keep the Sabbath.
Jesus proclaims His unrivaled authority over the Sabbath by declaring that He Himself is, in fact, LORD over the Sabbath. Bow to His authority & worship Him!
"Jesus Promises Immediate Heaven to a Guilty Sinner!"
Pastor Geoff preaches the 2nd saying of Christ from the cross -- "Today you will be with me in Paradise." Jesus spoke this to a guilty, sinful, rebellious thief who was crucified! All the thief did was recognize his sin, see how holy God is, know he deserved to die, and he cried out in simple faith for mercy from Christ!
This sermon walks through the paragraph in Luke 23 and helps us see how Jesus promises immediate, eternal heaven for every Christian at the very moment of death.
Pastor Geoff preaches the narrative of Jesus raising Jairus' daughter from the dead.
1. See the desperation of the Father
2. See the death of the girl
3. See the divinity of the Savior!
Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through Luke. This account in Luke 7:11-17 shows how Jesus is in fact the true prophet of God as He raises a widow's son from the dead. By His spoken Word alone, Jesus Christ raises the dead -- he gives life to dead men by His grace & by His initiative.
This historical account also pictures the spiritual reality of regeneration.
This sermon provides 4 ways that we can go back in time and see and experience the events as they unfolded in the ancient city of Nain.
In this account, the Sadducees approach Jesus with a hypothetical, ludicrous, insincere question. How will Jesus respond to these mocking opponents?
Jesus speaks Truth. He stands on Scripture. He confronts them boldly. He calls them out as being mistaken, deceived and duped because they do NOT know the (1) WORD of God, nor the (2) POWER of God.
