In this podcast, Pastor Geoff talks about Jesus Christ as our SUPREME good -- our all sufficient portion of infinite goodness.
Jesus is the MOST SUPREME good.
Jesus is the MOST SUFFICIENT good.
Jesus is the MOST SUITABLE good.
Jesus is the MOST SANCTIFYING good.
Jesus is the MOST SWEETEST good.
Jesus is the MOST SECURING good.
Jesus is the MOST STRENGTHENING good.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff proclaims the clear and pure gospel from this verse in preparing the church family for the Lord's Supper. This verse gives us 4 declarations of the Christian's life:
1. You were far away
2. You were brought near
3. You were sacrificially redeemed
4. You are 'IN CHRIST'
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the phrase that Christ proclaims to Nicodemus: "You Must be Born Again!" This sermon is more of a thematic sermon examining the phrase and describing what it means with 8 adjectives.
It's a supernatural birth
It's a life-giving birth
It's a necessary birth
It's a sovereign birth
It's an available birth
It's an individual birth
This sermon was preached at Providence Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Edwardsville, IL.
"4 Results of Christ's Substitutionary Atonement for Every Believer!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through Ephesians.
In Ephesians 2:1-10 -- Paul showed the work of the gospel in our relationship with God.
Now, in Ephesians 2:11-22 -- Paul shows that in LIGHT of that work of Christ in bringing us to God, we have PEACE with one another (=Jew and Gentile).
In Ephesians 2:11-13 we looked at who we were (alienation from God). Now in Ephesians 2:14-18 we see our reconciliation with God and with each other. This is a glorious text that gives 3 marvelous pronouncements for the child of God.
1. Jesus is our PEACE WITH EACH OTHER.
2. Jesus is our RECONCILIATION WITH GOD.
3. Jesus is our ACCESS TO THE FATHER.
A friend of mine posted this outline on social media and I've taken it and elaborated on it for this audio podcast:
YOU ARE IN WAR!
Put on armor of God (Eph 6:11, 1 Thes 5:8) -
Be a good soldier (2 Tim 2:3) -
Love your fellow soldiers (Phil 2:25, Phi 1:2) -
Wage warfare (1 Tim 1:18, 2 Cor 10:4-5) -
Prepare for battle (1 Pet 1:13) -
Fight the good fight (1 Tim 6:12, 2 Tim 4:7) -
King Jesus wins the war (Rev 19:11)
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches a thematic, topical sermon bringing together a handful of Scriptures on the substitution --
In these texts (and Titus 2:14), we see the importance of the SUBSTITUTION of the spotless one for the guilty one.
Here is the heart of the gospel -- the picture and pattern through the Word of God. This is the truth of the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ -- He died in the place of sinners, bearing their sin and taking God's wrath FOR OUR SAKE.
Pastor Geoff preaches on the 5 disadvantages of every Gentile (non-Jew) before God saved him. What were you like? What condition were you in? What was your condition? But v.13 provides the hope that GOD drew sinners near to Himself through the blood of Christ!
"The Substitution of Jesus Christ: The Heartbeat of the Saving Gospel!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff continues the verse by verse exposition through EPHESIANS. Ephesians 2:10 is the glorious conclusion to Paul's magnificent explanation of God's Work of salvation for sinners (2:1-9). In 2:10, we see that we are God's workmanship -- handiwork -- and he Created us (regeneration/new-creations) for good works.
God has saved us and He will sanctify us. He changes our hearts and he will conform us to Christ!
Pastor Geoff preaches Titus 2:11-14 at a funeral for a friend's friend. How do you preach the gospel & proclaim hope and the good news to those you've never met before? Here Pastor Geoff talks about the past, the present, and the future and the hope found in Jesus Christ alone from Titus 2.
"Create Occasions & Opportunities to Preach the Word!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the grace of God that provides the power to live a transformed life. We cannot live out all the commands that God calls us to IN OUR OWN strength. We need HIS almighty and sovereign strength. Titus 2:11-14 provides the glorious hope in the book of Titus -- God's grace supplies us with all we need to live out what He calls us to!
"Homosexuals Cannot See Jesus In Your Good Behavior!"
Homosexuals Can’t See Jesus In Your Good Behavior
2 Chronicles 33:15-16 - true change
They’re Dead in Sin
You Must Preach the Gospel
Remember God’s Sovereign Regeneration
Glory in Supernatural Transformation
We must open our mouths and courageously and lovingly plead with sinners (whether heterosexual or homosexual) to flee from their sinful ways and turn to Jesus Christ alone in repentance & faith to be saved from the coming wrath of God.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through the book of Ephesians and shows how all of this glorious work of redemption is a work of God. The main verb in these verses is "You have been saved."
Then, in vv.8-9, Paul fleshes this out with 5 supporting phrases/clauses. **HOW ARE YOU SAVED?**
1. By grace
2. Thru faith
3. Outside yourself
4. From God
5. Without works
Why? So that no one may boast (in self and in our accomplishments) -- but we boast ONLY in Jesus Christ!
"Christ On the Cross: How It Relates To You Personally!"
Pastor Geoff now discusses with the CFBC family Jesus' view of homosexuality. Many may (wrongly) claim that since Jesus never directly addressed homosexuality, then he didn't really care about it. He didn't probit it.
But what do the gospels teach? Is there clarity here?
Yes! Pastor Geoff provides a handful of headings to equip us about the clear and unambiguous teaching of Jesus in upholding and affirming marriage a covenant between one man and one woman (Matt 19).
"Your Joyful Privilege! Be a Disciple & A Disciple-Maker in Your Church!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the glorious "BUT GOD" of the gospel. After all the bad news of our being 'dead in sin' (Eph 2.1-3), now Paul glories in the reality that GOD GIVES LIFE.
This message highlights the 3 main verbs of our section:
1. God made you alive
2. God raised you up
3. God seated you in heaven
