Pastor Geoff preaches Psalm 118 and shows how believers must "give thanks" to the LORD for He is good & for His everlasting, covenant-keeping love.
Psalm 118, also, is Messianic in that it points to the coming Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. Psalm 118 is the song given to the nation of Israel to teach them how to respond when Messiah appears -- and that is exactly what happened when Jesus presented Himself as the Jewish Messiah during the "Triumphal Entry". Psalm 118 plays a very significant role during the final days of Jesus' life (the Passion week).
This sermon walks through the Passion Week and shows how Psalm 118 points to Jesus Christ as the "stone that was rejected" yet has become the "Corner Stone."
"The High Calling of Motherhood - Teaching Children Biblical Truth"
Pastor Geoff shows from the text in Proverbs 31:1 where King Lemuel writes that which his mother taught him. This shows the high calling of motherhood includes the intentional teaching and instructing of the children in the ways of God.
Pastor Geoff speaks to the young people at CFBC and provides 4 lessons — 4 powerful marks — so they can prepare (now!) for marriage.
1. Be humble -- not prideful
2. Be gentle -- not angry
3. Be patient -- not selfish
4. Be tolerant -- not intolerant
Listen to this exhortation to the young people!
Pastor Geoff preaches the gospel at a Senior Living Facility in St Louis, Missouri. In this message from the text of Ezekiel 36:25-27, he shows three foundational realities of the Gospel:
Listen to this message & the work of God in the gospel!
Pastor Geoff preaches Luke 6:43-45 in the final "exhortation" section of Christ's Sermon on the Mount. In this portion of the sermon, he has just pleaded with the crowds to enter through the narrow gate and how he shows them WHY they must do so -- because the heart is the root that brings forth fruit. He shows that one's conduct, thoughts, words, and ways of life all come from the heart.
Listen to this message & examine your own heart & the fruit of your life that reveals what kind of tree you are!
Pastor Geoff provides a devotional on Psalm 117 and shows how the thrust of the psalm drives all hearers, readers & followers of Christ to engage in global missions because God deserves global praise -- from all peoples, nations, tribes, and tongues!
Let us all all to praise our God!
"Learning from Jesus as He Evangelized [Shared the Gospel]"
Pastor Geoff gives a brief devotional on John 4 and looks at how Jesus engaged the immoral, sinful, Samaritan woman at the well. And particularly, Geoff shows how Jesus engaged her and shared the gospel with her.
Some very important and helpful elements of evangelism arise in this conversation that Jesus had with the woman.
Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through the Book of Psalms and covers Psalm 117. In this sermon, he gives two global truths about God & Missions:
1) Praise the LORD all you nations!
2) Praise the LORD for His perfections!
Listen to this psalm, its comprehensiveness, and its call to all nations, peoples, tribes, and tongues to worship our great God!
"Bless the LORD, O My Soul! Occupy Your Heart with God!"
Pastor Geoff preaches at another church in St. Louis, Missouri during a time of transition and calls on the believers to occupy their hearts with God -- the unchanging One who is sovereign over all!
"Should You Judge Or Not? A Lesson on the Right Kind of Judging!"
Pastor Geoff preaches Psalm 116 and shows the God of all-sufficient grace & how He provides help to the helpless.
The psalmist is near death and feels at a very low-point in his life. Yet even in this time of hardship, he expresses a heartfelt cry: "I love the LORD!" And he surveys the character of God and commits himself to serve God as the 'slave of the Lord.'
Listen to this message, relate to the psalmist, and fill your heart and mind with God's glorious and sufficient character!
Pastor Geoff continues the study on the Sermon on the Mount and looks at the section on 'loving our enemies.' This section contains the conduct of Christ's kingdom citizens -- what sort of lives should we live?
In this message, two main points are discussed:
1. The ultimate exhortation to love your enemies
2. The ultimate example to love your enemies
Listen to this sermon & specifically apply it to your life.
"The Mighty Angel & The Little Book that John Is Told to Eat!"
In this chapter in the Book of Revelation, Pastor Geoff shows how the Lord gives John a sort of interlude -- a respite -- as John beholds a strong angel who comes down and delivers the message that "there will be delay no longer!" The time of God's patience is drawing to a close. The age of divine wrath will be 'complete' in the 7th Trumpet (which then unleashes the 7 bowl judgments).
John, in the Old Testament prophetic way, is told to eat the scroll -- the Word of God -- and it will be sweet in his mouth but bitter in his stomach.
Tom Rayborn preaches on the brevity of life, on the horrors of sin, and on the sureness of hell for all who remain unbelieving. He calls and pleads with sinners to repent and come to Christ!
In this teaching session, Pastor Geoff works through the middle set of Tribulation judgments (the 7 Trumpet Judgments) and specifically looks at the 5th and 6th Trumpet Judgments and the monstrous demonic invasions that will occur during this future period. The 5th trumpet will be an unleashing of demons to torment people for 5 months. The 6th demonic invasion will bring death to 1/3 of the world's population at that time.
Listen to this message to understand more of God's judgment that will come upon a world that has refused to repent and turn to Christ!
Repent! Turn from your sins! Flee from the wrath to come! Find shelter and safety in Christ Jesus alone!
"The Blessings & Woes of Christ's Sermon on the Mount/Plain"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff provides the background and introduction to the Sermon on the Mount (or in Luke, "the Sermon on the Plain"). This sermon occurs in Matthew 5-7 and in Luke 6:20-49.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff begins the series by teaching on the "Blessings and Woes" of the sermon. Christ draws the line in the sand and puts all men into one of two categories -- either those who are His kingdom citizens or those who are not; those who are like the world or those who are not; those who are blessed by God or those who are cursed by God.
Listen tot his message & examine your heart and see whether you truly are characterized Christ's own kingdom citizens.
Pastor Geoff describes the 'pulpit' of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus did not preach this in a large cathedral or at a church conference. He preached this in the open air with masses of crowds that had gathered around Him.
