In this sermon, Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through Habakkuk. How do the people of God live when the wicked seem to triumph? Where do we go? Where do we turn? How do we find hope?
In Habakkuk 2 (esp v.4), we find that the chief element to remember is to 'live by faith' (cf. Hebrews 10:36-39).
Pastor Geoff explains how we can learn how to pray for other believers — called, 'intercessory prayer' — from Paul in Colossians 1:9-11.
His prayer encapsulates the spiritual growth and Godly conduct of the Colossian believers! O how marvelous would it be for every church today to pray following this model as we pray for other believers within the flock — even by name!
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff concludes the exposition through the book of Revelation & he calls the men to RESPOND to the book! He provides 4 ways that they should respond to the book of Revelation -- and all of God's revelation (by application).
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff shows 5 reasons why the resurrection is essential to the Christian gospel. Then he provides 5 ways that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is connected to all areas of the believer's life.
This is part 1 of a 3-part series as Pastor Geoff preaches through Habakkuk. How could God seem silent when the wicked seem to prosper (cf. Ps 73)? How could God seem indifferent, inactive, apathetic? Does He care?
When God's people are oppressed, does God not care?
In using the Islamic "shariah" law as an example, Pastor Geoff speaks about how believers must respond in perplexing situations — have an unshakable, unwavering faith in God and in His unchanging character!
"Roman Catholic Doctrine Attacks the Sanctity of Christ's Church!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff shows how the Roman Catholic Church vigorously attacks the Headship of Jesus Christ by asserting that the Pope is the 'Head' of the Church and 'Vicar of Christ' on earth.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff exposes the devastating teaching of the Catholic doctrine and then he preaches Colossians 1:15-20 and shows 5 essential truths about the biblical Jesus. It is this Jesus that can save from sin & provide reconciliation with God.
Listen to this sermon.
"Motivations for Prayer from the Doctrine of Adoption"
In this brief audio devotional, Pastor Geoff reminds us that gospel multiplication (=discipleship) is imperative for Christ's Church. The Lord commands all believers to be actively engaged in discipling other faithful folks who can then take that biblical truth and impart it to others.
Pastor Geoff continues the series on examining the Roman Catholic Church's doctrine on various issues and comparing it with the truth & authority of God's Word.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff examines how the Roman Catholic Church believes that salvation comes through the Church, that Mary is a co-redeemer together with Christ, that humans can merit and contribute to salvation (justification) and that the Catholic faith is inclusive in accepting other faiths/religions (including Muslims).
Pastor Geoff then preaches Acts 4.12 and shows that salvation is found ONLY by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Repent and believe and be saved from God's coming wrath!
Pastor Geoff open air preaches on the campus of Southern Illinois University. After shortly preaching on Romans 5, Pastor Geoff encounters a young man, Greg, and shares the entire gospel with him and pleads with him to repent and believe in Christ.
"Two Eternal Truths + Conversation with Muslim Man, Fajad"
Pastor Geoff teaches the next Hermeneutics class. The topics today are:
1. interpreting prophecy (Isa, Jer, Ezek, Dan, the 'Twelve', and Revelation)
2. interpreting the New Testament's Use of the Old Testament
"Roman Catholic Doctrine Attacks the Sufficiency of Jesus' Death"
Pastor Geoff teaches part 2 on the Roman Catholic Church Doctrine and shows how the Catholic dogma attacks the very sufficiency of Jesus' once-for-all sacrifice at Calvary -- particularly through the Mass.
Hebrews 10 clearly shows that Jesus died once and for all with no need for ongoing, perpetual sacrifices or ceremonies to remove sin. Jesus paid it all.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff shows how the psalmist models how to pray and praise as he is 'old and gray.' How can one use the golden years to fulfill the golden opportunity to transmitting biblical truth on to the next generation?
How can the older saints involve themselves in Christ's church and serve Christ with joy? This psalm provides some answers.
"The Roman Catholic Doctrine Attacks the Sufficiency of Scripture"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff begins a 5-part series looking at the historic doctrine (=dogma) of the Roman Catholic Church. This sermon shows that the Roman Catholic doctrine has explicitly denied Scripture alone.
Then, Pastor Geoff exposits Psalm 19 and shows how God has revealed Himself clearly, sufficiency in Scripture, and authoritatively for life.
Embrace the reality that the Bible -- and the Bible alone -- contains all that we need for life and godliness. God has spoken clearly through His Word. Read it, believe it, understand it, and obey it!
