In this psalm, Pastor Geoff shows that God is a safe protection for all His children. God is the Most High, the Almighty, the Rock, the Refuge, the Fortress, the One under whose wings a Christian can hide.
Listen to this preeminent psalm of comfort and reassurance.
"My Eyes Have Seen Your Salvation! Beholding the Face of the God-Man!"
Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through Luke's gospel and teaches on "Simeon." Simeon was an elderly man waiting for the Messiah to appear. And when God providentially brought Simeon into the Temple to behold the newborn baby, the God-Man, Simeon praised God and gave a prophecy of the future life & work of Jesus. He would, in fact, be the dividing line so that many would receive Him for eternal life & many would reject Him for eternal death.
Pastor Geoff preaches on the active obedience of Jesus Christ as he submitted to the Father & obeyed the Law in 2 specific ways in this text:
1. He obeyed in His circumcision
2. He obeyed in His consecration
In the piety of His parents, the Lord Jesus obeyed the Law and fulfilled all righteousness. He was born under the Law to redeem those under the Law.
And all of His righteousness is credited to the believer's account through faith at the moment of salvation.
"Great Is Your Faithfulness! The Song of the Child of God Who Trusts in God!"
Psalm 89 explodes with praise & jubiliation because God is eternally faithful and loyally loving to His covenant that He made with David (2 Samuel 7). This ultimately finds fulfillment in Jesus Christ — and will be yet fulfilled when Christ returns in power & glory and rules in righteousness over Israel from Zion as the 'Lord our Righteousness'.
There are loads of hope and oceans of covenantal mercy contained in this psalm. Read it. Believe it. And hope in God's faithful love!
"Salvation is from the LORD! The Doctrines of Grace & the Wondrous Sovereignty of God!"
Pastor Geoff teaches on the Doctrines of Grace at Christ Fellowship Bible Church during the Family Bible Hour. In this study, he shows what the 5 doctrines of grace are and how ever believer must 'savor' them. In a word, theology must result in doxology!
"Stand Amazed at the Humble Birth of the Savior Who Came to Save Sinners! See His Lowliness!"
Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through the Gospel of Luke and teaches on the birth of Christ in Bethlehem. He shows the humility, the lowliness, & the salvation in Jesus Christ, the God-Man.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the darkest and saddest psalm in the Psalter. There is little hope offered in this psalm. The author drowns in the dark despair of depression. So, how does one cope with this? How does the rest of biblical revelation aid us in our pursuit for joy in God?
God has given a whole Bible to make a whole Christian. Listen to how to fight depression with God's sufficient Word in this sermon.
"The Reality & Purity of Heaven as a Motive for Aggressive Sanctification"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the reality and certainty of heaven and how this must energize the believer to 'press into the Kingdom' (that is, to take the kingdom by force). Sanctification must be an aggressive pursuit.
Heaven is about Christ and so the believer's life must be a constant pursuit of Christ and His glory.
"The Power, Glory & Evidence of True Regeneration: Are You Really Saved?"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches Psalm 87 and shows how Zion, God's City, is a beautiful city because God sovereignly chose to 'set His love upon her'. It has a rich history in the past and a rich history still to come in the future (Messiah's 2nd coming, where Christ will rule during the Kingdom).
In this psalm, we saw the
1. City of Zion
2. Community in Zion
3. Celebration in Zion
Listen to this psalm & apply it to your life.
"God Will Dwell Among His People: A Powerful Motive for Holiness!"
Pastor Geoff provides a brief devotional on Revelation 21:3 when the text says that in the New Heavens & the New Earth, God will dwell among His people.
Since this is certainly to happen, then believers must strive with all their might to dwell with God intimately now. The future reality of God dwelling with His people should motivate God's people now to incessant, ongoing, undeterred intimacy with God in pursuing aggressive sanctification.
