Pastor Geoff preaches through this Olivette Discourse (since Jesus preached it on the Mt of Olives) as he answered the disciples' question about when the Temple will be destroyed, what the signs will be of His coming and of the end of the age.
This first sermon deals with Jesus' answer of the 'signs that will come' that lead to the end (vv.5-19).
Pastor Geoff preaches to the men at a homeless shelter about times and seasons of transition in life. What are some helps from God's Word to guide and govern us during and through those difficult and sometimes unknown seasons?
"Evangelism Class #10 - Pleading with Sinners; Closing In with Christ"
Pastor Geoff gives counsel to all parents -- and fathers, particularly -- to hear the preached Word well and to impress them and apply them to their own hearts and lives and THEN to re-preach these truths to the children throughout the upcoming week.
Many illustrations and examples are given in this podcast.
May God graciously equip and help us to do this for His glory and for the good of our children.
Pastor Geoff preaches on how to prepare for and respond after the preaching of the Word. What if we asked good questions afterwards to help fellow believers apply the truth heard.
Consider these questions:
*What did God show you about Himself and His character?
*In what way did God minister His Word to you to help you in a current situation you're in?
*How did you see the reality of sin & the grace of Christ through the preached WORD?
*How did the Spirit of God use His Word to encourage you, convict you, challenge or enlighten you?
"Meet With God: An Open Bible, Open Hymnal, Open Heart"
Pastor Geoff talks about "Meeting with God" in the daily grind of life. Whatever you call it: quiet time, devotions, fellowship with God, personal time with God -- it's hard and it takes time. But how do we do this well and improve this important & wonderful means of grace?
In this podcast, Pastor Geoff gives counsels:
From Psalm 119:172, we learn 4 things:
Hear from God = an open Bible
Worship your God = an open Hymnal
Humility before God = an open heart
Talk to God = an open mouth
"Who Is This Jesus? Son of David & Lord Over All!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff continues to preach through the Gospel of Luke & here looks at the Passion Week of our Lord. This section is when Jesus asks the Jewish leaders whose son the Messiah is -- David's!
But Messiah is NOT ONLY the son of David; He's David's Lord & sovereign One over all! Implication? Bow before Him! Believe in Him! Surrender to Him! And live!
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff teaches on the odd, hypothetical question that the Sadducees raise to Jesus in order to show that his doctrine of the resurrection is totally illogical & foolish.
Jesus responds with brilliant directness & clarity. He shows that there IS a future resurrection and He shows it with a theological argument and an exegetical (biblical) argument.
Learn from our Savior and see how masterful and clear He responds to those who posed this question to Him.
"A Self-Righteous Man & A Desperately Humble Man!"
Pastor Geoff preaches at the Senior Living Home in Ellisville, MO and preaches on the Tax Collector and the Pharisee and the parable Jesus tells of these two men going up to the Temple to pray.
One is the self-righteous man -- the Pharisee -- who praises himself all throughout his prayer. He dies in his futile self-exaltation and is humbled as he eternally goes to hell.
The other is the desperately humble man -- the tax-collector -- and he humbles himself and begs for God's mercy -- His propitiation -- so that he can be saved. He humbles himself and is exalted at death to enter heaven: all by God's grace!
Pastor Geoff Kirkland continues the exposition through Philippians and shows how Paul has the all-consuming ambition to 'magnify Christ in his body.'
He provides 3 ways that he can rejoice -- even in his suffering -- because he knows ALL things will turn out for his deliverance...
1. through the prayers of the saints
2. through the provision of the Spirit
3. through the priority of magnifying Christ
