- How John uses and alludes to the Old Testament often

- What kind of genre of writing is this? Prophecy
- What are Old Testament texts that still remain unfulfilled that still await future, complete fulfillment?
"The Historical Credentials Validating Jesus as a Real Man! The Importance of Luke's Genealogy!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the importance of this genealogy in Luke (and the similar one in Matthew 1). He pulls out four theological truths from the text so that we can see the paramount importance of this text in Luke's gospel and for Luke's purpose to show that Jesus is, in fact, the Savior offered to both Jews and Gentiles!
1. God has given a perfectly inspired & inerrant book to you!
2. Jesus can relate to you in every single way!
3. God sovereignly works all things according to His plan!
4. Jesus came to bring redemption to mankind!
Pastor Geoff preaches a 25-minute sermon on the biblical gospel. What is the message that saves from coming wrath? What is the full, biblical message of the gospel? How is one reconciled to God? What saves? How is one saved?
Listen to this message that reveals the biblical gospel from Exodus 34 and Ephesians 2.
"Bless the LORD, O My Soul! Occupy Your Heart with God!"
In this psalm, Pastor Geoff provides six ways that believers can 'occupy themselves with God.' That is what we want: we want to occupy our hearts, our minds, our affections, our aspirations with Christ, with His glory, with His unchanging character.
This sermon provides a handful of ways to 'bless the LORD' and occupy your soul with God!
This profound and significant text of Jesus' baptism signifies the divine credentials and the divine approval for Christ's ministry.
The baptism of Christ was one of the last acts in His private life before he launched the public ministry. In this text, Jesus is baptized by John in the Jordan, the Spirit of God comes upon Christ and empowers Him for ministry, and the Father thunders out of heaven that Jesus is in fact the Beloved Son in whom God is well-pleased.
Old Testament allusions and texts abound in this brief text. Listen to this sermon & strive to emulate Christ as a man of prayer and a man fully dependent on the Spirit of God.
