Older Saints: Here’s How You Can Serve:
Serve by Praying — constant intercession
Serve by Probing — intentional; proactive; meet & greet; ask good questions
Serve by Mentoring — take one or two; or a few; or some from each age level & pour into them
Serve by Proclaiming — tell us about God’s faithfulness.
Serve by Persevering — continue walking with Jesus
"Younger Saints! Here's How You Can Serve In Your Church!"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff expounded Ephesians 3 on the Christian ministry. In Ephesians 3:8-13, Paul exposes his heart by discussing the glory of Christian ministry -- preaching the unsearchable riches of Christ. This sermon brings out 5 marks that describe every Christian who views ALL OF LIFE as a ministry (=service) to God:
1. A proper perspective of self
2. A consuming love for Christ
3. A precise grasp of theology
4. A clear understanding of salvation
5. A heartfelt concern for believers
Listen to the Word of God and let us respond accordingly and apply it to our hearts and lives!
Psalm 80 — Urgently Pleading for Revival!
refrain: O GOD restore us - v.3, 7, 19
Restore us O God: for You Are Powerful! (1-3) because of who YOU are
Restore us O God: for We Are Ridiculed (4-7) because of who WE are
Restore us O God: for We Are Impotent (8-19) because of WHAT we are
Pastor Geoff provides a podcast from a preacher to preachers on the difficulties of pastoral ministry as sometimes feeling as though you're rubbing up against thorns, thistles, and being bitten by scorpions.
"The Beauty & Wonder of the Church Explained in 3 Metaphors"
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff concludes the exposition through Ephesians 2
by talking about the CHURCH -- in three word-pictures / metaphors.
1. You are citizens of God's kingdom
2. You are members of God's household
3. You are stones in God's Temple
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the minister's mandate from God -- it a serious charge, a very sober-minded and solemn duty -- to PREACH AND EXHORT with all authority (from God thru His Word).
This sermon contains the mandate for the minister:
4. LET NO ONE DISREGARD YOU!
In this podcast, Pastor Geoff talks about Jesus Christ as our SUPREME good -- our all sufficient portion of infinite goodness.
Jesus is the MOST SUPREME good.
Jesus is the MOST SUFFICIENT good.
Jesus is the MOST SUITABLE good.
Jesus is the MOST SANCTIFYING good.
Jesus is the MOST SWEETEST good.
Jesus is the MOST SECURING good.
Jesus is the MOST STRENGTHENING good.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff proclaims the clear and pure gospel from this verse in preparing the church family for the Lord's Supper. This verse gives us 4 declarations of the Christian's life:
1. You were far away
2. You were brought near
3. You were sacrificially redeemed
4. You are 'IN CHRIST'
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches on the phrase that Christ proclaims to Nicodemus: "You Must be Born Again!" This sermon is more of a thematic sermon examining the phrase and describing what it means with 8 adjectives.
It's a supernatural birth
It's a life-giving birth
It's a necessary birth
It's a sovereign birth
It's an available birth
It's an individual birth
This sermon was preached at Providence Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Edwardsville, IL.
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through Ephesians.
In Ephesians 2:1-10 -- Paul showed the work of the gospel in our relationship with God.
Now, in Ephesians 2:11-22 -- Paul shows that in LIGHT of that work of Christ in bringing us to God, we have PEACE with one another (=Jew and Gentile).
In Ephesians 2:11-13 we looked at who we were (alienation from God). Now in Ephesians 2:14-18 we see our reconciliation with God and with each other. This is a glorious text that gives 3 marvelous pronouncements for the child of God.
1. Jesus is our PEACE WITH EACH OTHER.
2. Jesus is our RECONCILIATION WITH GOD.
3. Jesus is our ACCESS TO THE FATHER.
A friend of mine posted this outline on social media and I've taken it and elaborated on it for this audio podcast:
YOU ARE IN WAR!
Put on armor of God (Eph 6:11, 1 Thes 5:8) -
Be a good soldier (2 Tim 2:3) -
Love your fellow soldiers (Phil 2:25, Phi 1:2) -
Wage warfare (1 Tim 1:18, 2 Cor 10:4-5) -
Prepare for battle (1 Pet 1:13) -
Fight the good fight (1 Tim 6:12, 2 Tim 4:7) -
King Jesus wins the war (Rev 19:11)
In this sermon, Pastor Geoff preaches a thematic, topical sermon bringing together a handful of Scriptures on the substitution --
In these texts (and Titus 2:14), we see the importance of the SUBSTITUTION of the spotless one for the guilty one.
Here is the heart of the gospel -- the picture and pattern through the Word of God. This is the truth of the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ -- He died in the place of sinners, bearing their sin and taking God's wrath FOR OUR SAKE.
Pastor Geoff preaches on the 5 disadvantages of every Gentile (non-Jew) before God saved him. What were you like? What condition were you in? What was your condition? But v.13 provides the hope that GOD drew sinners near to Himself through the blood of Christ!
