Luke 6:46 and Matthew 7:21 are the concluding exhortations to many religious people as Christ calls them to examine themselves and see if they truly are doing the Father's will or if they are paying mere lip service to Christ.
Many will say "Lord Lord" on that final judgment day & yet Christ will declare to them: "I never knew you, depart from me, you who practice lawlessness." May these piercing and thundering words never be heard by any who are warned by Christ!
O this is a message for the American church today! Scores, millions of people 'profess' Christ but don't possess Him. Multitudes what heaven but they don't want holiness. Masses of people want the blessings from God but they will not be in submission to God.
Those who do not surrender to Christ and follow Him pay mere lip service to Him and will hear those thundering and shocking words on that final day: "Depart from me!"
"The Beast of the Sea (AntiChrist) and the Beast of the Earth (False Prophet)"
Revelation 13 reveals two individuals -- "beasts" -- who will arise during the future time of tribulation. The first is a beast that comes up out of the sea and this speaks of the "Anti-Christ", the man of lawlessness (2 Thess 2). Then the other beast is the "false prophet" -- the one who makes all the world to worship the first beast (and the Dragon).
This message looks at these two characters and the role that they will play in the future time of divine wrath in the Tribulation period.
"Think Deeply: Do You Call Jesus 'Lord' & Not Do What He Says?"
Pastor Geoff begins the exposition through Psalm 119 and begins with the first stanza of 8 verses - the aleph stanza (all 8 verses begin with the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Aleph).
This stanza extols the joy and blessedness that comes to the man of God who commits himself to walk in the way of God and who is obsessed with diligently keeping God's laws!
The Bible is under extreme attack today by countless sides and yet the Bible is like a "Lion that will defend itself."
This opening portion of the psalm speaks to the joy that believers have in God's Word and the diligent obedience that we must have to His Word as well.
"Intro to Psalm 119 — The Placement of Psalm 119 In the Psalter at Large"
Pastor Geoff briefly gives an overview of each of the 8 predominant words that occur in Psalm 119 to refer to the Word of God (Law, Statutes, Precepts, Word, Ordinances, Testimonies, etc.).
This sermon extols the design of God for mothers in the context of the home so that they would embrace His calling upon their lives to be workers at home, diligent in teaching the children, and respectful to their husbands.
Motherhood is not a hobby; it's a calling. It's the noblest of callings that God gives to women in the context of their home. God's plan for mothers is that they busy themselves in the home by diligently teaching their children the Word of God, the gospel of Christ, and the sacred writings which are able to give the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
This sermon provides 4 privileges of motherhood.
"The High Calling of Motherhood - Intentionally Teach Your Children!"
Tom Rayborn open air preaches the gospel from Genesis 6 and shows how great the sinfulness of man is and yet he calls all men and women to turn from sin and flee to Jesus Christ for refuge and safety from the coming wrath!
Pastor Geoff provides another element that is in the high calling of motherhood. This calling from God calls moms to teach/instruct their children (even the nursing babies/the youngest of children) in the sacred writings that give the wisdom that lead to salvation.
Moms should deliberately teach their children even from the youngest of years the Word of God!
"The High Calling of Motherhood - Teaching Children Biblical Truth"
Pastor Geoff shows from the text in Proverbs 31:1 where King Lemuel writes that which his mother taught him. This shows the high calling of motherhood includes the intentional teaching and instructing of the children in the ways of God.
Pastor Geoff preaches Psalm 118 and shows how believers must "give thanks" to the LORD for He is good & for His everlasting, covenant-keeping love.
Psalm 118, also, is Messianic in that it points to the coming Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. Psalm 118 is the song given to the nation of Israel to teach them how to respond when Messiah appears -- and that is exactly what happened when Jesus presented Himself as the Jewish Messiah during the "Triumphal Entry". Psalm 118 plays a very significant role during the final days of Jesus' life (the Passion week).
This sermon walks through the Passion Week and shows how Psalm 118 points to Jesus Christ as the "stone that was rejected" yet has become the "Corner Stone."
Pastor Geoff speaks to the young people at CFBC and provides 4 lessons — 4 powerful marks — so they can prepare (now!) for marriage.
1. Be humble -- not prideful
2. Be gentle -- not angry
3. Be patient -- not selfish
4. Be tolerant -- not intolerant
Listen to this exhortation to the young people!
Pastor Geoff preaches the gospel at a Senior Living Facility in St Louis, Missouri. In this message from the text of Ezekiel 36:25-27, he shows three foundational realities of the Gospel:
Listen to this message & the work of God in the gospel!
Pastor Geoff preaches Luke 6:43-45 in the final "exhortation" section of Christ's Sermon on the Mount. In this portion of the sermon, he has just pleaded with the crowds to enter through the narrow gate and how he shows them WHY they must do so -- because the heart is the root that brings forth fruit. He shows that one's conduct, thoughts, words, and ways of life all come from the heart.
Listen to this message & examine your own heart & the fruit of your life that reveals what kind of tree you are!
Pastor Geoff provides a devotional on Psalm 117 and shows how the thrust of the psalm drives all hearers, readers & followers of Christ to engage in global missions because God deserves global praise -- from all peoples, nations, tribes, and tongues!
Let us all all to praise our God!
"Learning from Jesus as He Evangelized [Shared the Gospel]"
Pastor Geoff gives a brief devotional on John 4 and looks at how Jesus engaged the immoral, sinful, Samaritan woman at the well. And particularly, Geoff shows how Jesus engaged her and shared the gospel with her.
Some very important and helpful elements of evangelism arise in this conversation that Jesus had with the woman.
Pastor Geoff continues the exposition through the Book of Psalms and covers Psalm 117. In this sermon, he gives two global truths about God & Missions:
1) Praise the LORD all you nations!
2) Praise the LORD for His perfections!
Listen to this psalm, its comprehensiveness, and its call to all nations, peoples, tribes, and tongues to worship our great God!
"Bless the LORD, O My Soul! Occupy Your Heart with God!"
Pastor Geoff preaches at another church in St. Louis, Missouri during a time of transition and calls on the believers to occupy their hearts with God -- the unchanging One who is sovereign over all!
"Should You Judge Or Not? A Lesson on the Right Kind of Judging!"
Pastor Geoff preaches Psalm 116 and shows the God of all-sufficient grace & how He provides help to the helpless.
The psalmist is near death and feels at a very low-point in his life. Yet even in this time of hardship, he expresses a heartfelt cry: "I love the LORD!" And he surveys the character of God and commits himself to serve God as the 'slave of the Lord.'
Listen to this message, relate to the psalmist, and fill your heart and mind with God's glorious and sufficient character!
